Ingredients

Fresh Strawberries: Look for fresh, ripe strawberries. They should be bright red and fragrant. If possible, choose organic for the best flavor.
Fresh Blueberries: Fresh blueberries are best, but you can also use frozen if fresh are not available. Make sure to rinse them well before using.
Pink Lady Apple: This variety is chosen for its sweetness and firm texture, which holds up well when cut into shapes. Any sweet, crisp apple can be used as a substitute.

Instructions
Prepare the Strawberries: Start by rinsing the strawberries under cold water. Remove the stems and quarter them. Place the quartered strawberries in a large mixing bowl.

Add the Blueberries: Rinse the blueberries thoroughly and add them to the bowl with the strawberries. Gently toss the fruits to mix them evenly.

Create Apple Stars: Wash the Pink Lady apple thoroughly. Cut the apple into slices about ¼ inch thick. Using a small star-shaped cookie cutter, cut out star shapes from the apple slices. This adds a festive touch and makes the salad visually appealing.

Combine Everything: Add the star-shaped apple pieces to the bowl with the strawberries and blueberries. Toss everything gently to mix, being careful not to crush the fruits.

Chill and Serve: Cover the bowl and chill the fruit salad in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve it. This helps keep the fruit fresh and crisp.

Substitutions
- Strawberries: If strawberries are out of season, you can substitute them with raspberries or red grapes.
- Blueberries: Blackberries can be used in place of blueberries for a slightly different flavor.
- Pink Lady Apple: Any sweet, crisp apple such as Honeycrisp or Fuji can be used instead. Or if need be, any white fruit that will do well as white stars will work too.

Equipment
- Large Mixing Bowl: For tossing all the fruits together.

Freezer: It’s not recommended to freeze this fruit salad as the texture of the fruits will change when thawed.
Reheating: This salad is best served cold. If it has been stored in the fridge, simply give it a gentle toss before serving to redistribute any juices that have settled.
