This guacamole is so good, you might even think it came from a restaurant.

We pair this with our easy salsa recipe, which contains many similar ingredients for a winning duo.
Ingredients
Avocados: Make sure they're nice and ripe!
Jalapeno: Optional but adds a nice spice and flavor. Omit if you have sensitive tastes to spiciness.
Tomatoes: I like to use Roma tomatoes
Onions: I like the flavor and color that red onions add
Lime: Adds a little acid which adds a great balance to the creaminess of the avocado. It also helps keep your guacamole nice and green longer.
Cilantro: Adds a delicious fresh flavor.
Salt and Pepper: To taste
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
Start by cutting all of your avocados in half. Then remove the pits and skin.
Place your avocado in bowl and mash well with a fork.
Next dice your tomatoes and onions. Chop up the jalapeno into very small pieces.
Chop your cilantro and set aside, and cut your lime in half.
Now add in your diced tomatoes, diced onion, chopped jalapeno and chopped cilantro.
Squeeze the juice from the lime into your guacamole ingredients and add your salt and pepper.
Mix all the ingredients well.
And that's it! Your guacamole is ready to serve. Make sure to pair your guacamole with something crispy and salty like tortilla chips.
When serving your guacamole you can add a little cilantro on top as garnish.
Variations
The great thing about guacamole is that you can add in whatever you like! So if you don't want onions, just leave them out or add in other ingredients.
Here are a couple of other great things to add to your guacamole to change up the taste.
- Crushed red pepper: Will add a bit of spiciness
- Powdered onion or garlic: This will add additional flavor to the guacamole. Add in when mashing your avocado to make sure it distributes evenly.
- Add more peppers: For even spicier guacamole, you can add spicier peppers like habanero.
- Roasted corn: Another veggie that pairs well with the guacamole.
Storage
Guacamole doesn't store well or for long. If you are making this ahead of time, there are a few things you can do to keep it green and appetizing for longer though.
Store in a sealable container, but first pat the guacamole dip into a flat layer, spreading it to completely touch all sides of the container.
Then cover then entire top surface with a thin layer of water or lemon juice. Cover with plastic wrap or a lid.
Make sure there are no air bubbles, as the air is what will turn the guacamole brown.
When you're ready to serve pour the water off and give the guacamole a good mix.
